Steve was born in Anchorage in 1947 to Tex & Ann Noey, Alaska pioneers who in the mid 1930's came to Alaska prior to Statehood. Tex was a hunting guide licensed to guide in all 13 Federal Hunting Districts. Ann was a registered nurse. They had a hunting & fishing lodge at Lake Clark. When the Second World War broke out, they were radio operators in Kotzbue, Alaska. When the war ended, they quickly returned to their lodge, toting Steve in his cradle, a wood Kerosene shipping box! His professional career as a State Licensed General Real Estate Appraiser, Licensed Real Estate Broker, Contractor/ Developer and Lobbyist took a turn 1984. His heart was in wild Alaska. He built and operated Pike Lake Lodge in western Alaska, specializing in fly out fishing trips in the Bristol Bay area. Later, he and some partners purchased Uyak Air Service in Kodiak, providing air taxi service to hunters, fishermen and logging companies around the Kodiak Island Archipelago. In 1990, he met Merri Anne. Along with their constant companions, the Newfoundland's, they spent all the time they could at Alice Cove in Prince William Sound. All of them love to fish and hunt. In the mid 1990's they purchased the boat, "Gutsy Girl" and bought a second cabin in Alice Cove. In 2000, Captain Rik joined them; thus the beginnings of their charter operation and STORMY PORT LODGE, LLC. Steve still holds his Professional Licenses as well as a Commercial Pilots License and a United Sates Coast Guard Merchant Marines Masters License. |
Richard (Rik) grew up in Idaho, raised his family there and ran his own business. His expertise in Sheet Rock & Steel Studs has taken him every where from Idaho Falls to Yellowstone Park and as far away as England and Barrow on the North Slope. He spent every spare moment (and some stolen ones) fishing the mighty Snake River, the Madison River and Birch Creek. Palisades Reservoir was just over a few hills from his family's wheat farm at Antelope. There he fished, hunted and became such a woodsman, he could reach out and touch (literally) the deer he hunted. He is an accomplished guide, fly fisherman, hunter (Bow and Shot), woodsman, boat handler and born Naturalist. Rik is easygoing, quick to laugh and enjoys showing his precious Prince William Sound to anyone & everyone. He is patient teacher and shares his incredible knowledge of Fly Fishing, Life, History and the Bible with anyone who asks of him. All our clients like spending time with him. He holds a United States Merchant Marines Master's License. |
Merri Anne grew up in the Gem state. As soon as she was old enough to work summers, she headed for Yellowstone Park. In 1969 she left the Pacific Northwest for Kodiak, Alaska working a summer job on a Herring Processor. She & her traveling partner had 25 cents between them. She never looked back and wound up commercial fishing from the Oregon Coast to Alaska's treacherous Bering Sea for the "Most Deadliest Catch". She worked the Trans Alaska Pipeline as a Teamster, saved enough money to build a cabin in the wilderness, (Alice Cove) and buy a fishing boat. She has always been a Frontier's Woman, joking she was born 100 years too late. In 1992, a debilitating disease struck. She retired from her professional career.
She is an accomplished cook, fisherman, guide, woodsman, hunter and boat handler. She can (and will!) tell you everything you ever wanted to know about Alaska's Flora and Fauna, big game, Native History and pre-history. She will even whip up an herbal concoction for your ailments. Another "Born Naturalist", she is getting certified as an Interpretive Naturalist from the Bureau of Land Management and a Naturalist Degree from the University of Alaska. She is the standing "Mayor" of Alice Cove for 33 years running! Member: National Wildlife Refuge Action Group, Alaska Women's Environmental Network, Safari Club International, AKPIRB |
